- There are many variables which effect the price to build a custom home: i.e. flooring, cabinets, roof type, square footage and other various material selections. On the average, a custom home costs between $ 130/sq foot – $ 220/sq foot to build. Generally, the larger the square footage, the less expensive (price per square foot) the home is to build.
